A Lagos-based telecommunications firm has been hit by a shocking case of internal theft and vandalism allegedly masterminded by one of its employees, identified as Afini Adeyeju Soliu, a security officer at the company.

According to reports by News Peddler, Soliu is accused of stealing about 20,000 litres of diesel and vandalizing vital fiber-optic infrastructure, causing damages estimated at โ‚ฆ25 million. He is said to have fled alongside his wife, Juli Melissa, who is believed to have conspired with him in carrying out the crime, a resident of 21 Ogunseye Road, Ikola Command area of Lagos State, Mr. Olashina Michael Olusegun, told News Peddler.

Mr. Olashina Michael Olusegun, who served as the guarantor for Soliuโ€™s employment, is now reportedly being held accountable by the telecommunications company for the suspectโ€™s actions.

The incident reportedly took place on October 27, 2025, and has since sparked a police investigation. Sources within the company disclosed that Soliu used his access as a security staff member to carry out the act before disappearing without a trace.

Investigators later contacted his wife, Melissa, who resides in the Okoafo area of Badagry. It was during this inquiry that police discovered she may have played a crucial role in the operation, as she was the one who helped Soliu secure the job at the firm.

โ€œUpon contacting the wife, it became clear that she conspired with her husband to carry out the theft,โ€ a police source said. โ€œShe has since fled with him, and the two are currently on the run.โ€

The case has been formally reported at the Area K Police Command, which has since launched a manhunt for the fugitive couple. Both Soliu and Melissa are wanted for larceny, vandalism, and criminal conspiracy.

Police have appealed to the public to assist with any information that could lead to their arrest. A dedicated hotline, 08029867556 has been set up for relevant tips or sightings.

The telecommunications company is yet to issue an official statement, but insiders say the incident has severely disrupted operations and raised serious concerns about internal security and infrastructure protection within the sector.
