Prof. Muhammad Omolaja, the National Chairman of the National Liberation Patriots (NLP), has moved out of the Action Alliance (AA) together with his political group, NLP, with immediate effect. This decision was taken during the National Stakeholder (NSA) meeting of the group which took place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, in Lagos. The reason for the action taken by the team was due to non-responsiveness of the Party – Action Alliance – despite the fast speed at which the forthcoming 2027 general election was approaching. Prof. Omolaja and NLP have however joined the Action Democratic Party (ADP) which they considered a more serious and responsive Party that can meet the needs of the politically conscious group under the leadership of its National Chairman, Prof. Muhammad Omolaja. This was the view of the Media Director of Omolaja Solidarity Forum (OSF), Comrade Ajibade Alabi which was made available to the Press in Lagos on January 14, 2026.

The statement reads “Since the Action Alliance could not move at our own pace, it was better we for us to join the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for a more serious relationship. NLP is still interested in working with the AA as well as other friendly Parties including the PRP, NRM, YPP, LP, LP, SDP, BP, as well as some factional Parties particularly in forming a coalition so that we can liberate Nigeria and rescue ourselves together during the forthcoming 2027 presidential election as our member cut across many Parties.”

The NLP has therefore directed all the State Chairmen and National Officers should go and explain the situation surrounding the adoption of their new Party (ADP) to  members on the various platforms.
“We have informed all members of the NLP to go and join our great Party (ADP) in their respective Wards, collect their membership cards, and be fully involved in Party activities, and that in terms of Party selection; NLP has gotten to its final choice Party – Action Democratic Party (ADP). No more moving out to any other Party although we shall be ready to form coalition with as many Parties that wish to join us in ADP as possible” for the purpose of creating the much needed renewed and rebranded Nigeria in which all of us would be proud to live from 2027 onward.” Omolaja concluded.
