Lagos Reporters can confirm that the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has arrested a group of miscreants who were extorting residents by charging them N100 to use a makeshift crossover bridge at Trade Fair. This comes after a viral video exposed their illegal activities.
According to eyewitnesses, the miscreants had set up a makeshift bridge to capitalize on the flooding that has affected many areas in Lagos. They were charging residents N100 to cross over, causing frustration and outrage among locals.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, took swift action, confirming the arrests in a tweet. He vowed that those arrested will face prosecution according to the law, serving as a warning to others who engage in such illegal activities.
This move is part of the state government’s efforts to tackle extortion and ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
