Oyo State APC governorship aspirant, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), has paid a courtesy visit to the Eleruwa of Eruwa, using the occasion to formally present his book, Our Realistic Tomorrow, a policy and leadership blueprint that outlines his vision for the future of Oyo State.
The palace visit formed part of Dr. Kareem’s ongoing consultations with traditional institutions across the state, underscoring his belief that sustainable governance must be rooted in culture, experience, and close engagement with the people at the grassroots.
Presenting the book, Dr. Kareem described Our Realistic Tomorrow as a practical and forward-looking document drawn from years of leadership and governance exposure within Oyo State, across Nigeria, and in the international space.
He explained that the book captures realistic solutions to Oyo State’s developmental challenges, with a strong focus on fairness, opportunity, accountability, and people-centred governance.
AKK, a School Leader with the New South Wales Department of Education in Australia, noted that his experience working within structured and accountable public systems abroad has reinforced his conviction that Oyo State can achieve sustainable growth through strategic planning, inclusive policies, and disciplined leadership.
Speaking at the palace, Dr. Kareem emphasized humility and continuous learning as core leadership values, remarking that learning from experience is not a sign of weakness but an enrichment of wisdom. According to him, societies progress when leaders are willing to reflect, listen, and improve upon past experiences for the collective good.
During the visit, Dr. Kareem also formally declared his intention to contest the Oyo State governorship under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that his aspiration is driven by service rather than personal ambition.
“I am running for the governorship of Oyo State not out of ambition for power,” he said, “but from a sincere conviction that Oyo State can become a place of progress, fairness, and equal opportunities for all.”
He described traditional rulers as custodians of history, values, and grassroots realities, adding that any credible development agenda must be anchored on respect for culture and continuous engagement with royal fathers who understand the needs of their people.
In his response, the Eleruwa of Eruwa welcomed Dr. Kareem and commended the presentation of Our Realistic Tomorrow, urging political leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people, promote unity, and pursue peace and inclusiveness in their political activities.
The visit further reflects AKK’s consultative leadership approach and his commitment to building broad-based support across communities as he intensifies stakeholder engagements ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
