The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, concluded his working visit to Ogun State, today Thursday 18th April, 2024, with a crucial meeting with the Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun. The meeting which held at the Government House in Abeokuta, was marked by discussions centered on enhancing security measures in the state.
During the meeting, the IGP expressed his appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his continuous support in promoting peace and security in Ogun State. He commended the governor for his proactive approach to addressing security challenges and reiterated the commitment to collaborate with the state government to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents. In line with efforts to bolster security infrastructure in Ogun State, the IGP announced plans to create additional police divisions strategically positioned to safeguard the state’s status as an industrial hub and gateway to Nigeria.
Governor Abiodun acknowledged the efforts of the Police in the security architecture of the state which he attributed to the professionalism and wisdom of the IGP. He assured of more support to deepen police operations in the state with focus on proactive policing.
Furthermore, as a demonstration of their shared zeal to enhancing security within Ogun state and its environs, the IGP and Governor Abiodun jointly commissioned a fleet of patrol vehicles in Abeokuta. These vehicles, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, will boost police patrols and enable swift response to security incidents, thereby enhancing the overall safety and security of Ogun State.
The Inspector General of Police emphasizes that the collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and the Ogun State Government reveals the collective resolve to ensure peace and prosperity in the state and the country by extension. The IGP expressed confidence in the partnership forged with Governor Dapo Abiodun and reiterated the dedication of the Force to protecting lives and property in the country via deliberate partnerships with all relevant stakeholders in internal security.
