I have always held on to the commitment to promoting growth and development, and it has been a principle that guides my vision for Oyo State and its people. True progress cannot be realised without a focused effort on addressing the needs of those at the grassroots; the market women, traders, artisans, petty traders, women, and small and medium-scale enterprises. It is no doubt that these individuals and businesses form the foundation of our economy, and their growth is essential to lifting millions out of poverty. My dedication to their welfare has driven various initiatives, and today, I am pleased to build on this foundation by announcing a new effort to empower our people at the grassroots and various communities across Oyo state with the resources they need to thrive.
In line with this vision, I am aware that the Federal Government’s approach to economic empowerment aligns with my belief in targeted support. However, such efforts require complementary actions at the state and grassroots levels to achieve meaningful impact. It is not enough to conceive these initiatives; they must be pursued with determination and rigorous oversight to ensure that the intended beneficiaries, who are the people at the heart of our society, receive the support. It is with this understanding that I am announcing the release of an additional 5 million naira non-interest loan scheme for AKK members and foot soldiers across Oyo State’s three senatorial districts. This new batch introduces three specific criteria: possession of a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) or proof of its registration, attendance at a minimum of two AKK meetings, and participation in at least one APC ward meeting. In order to ensure there is fairness, we will implement strict monitoring and verification processes to guarantee that the funds reach the right hands.
I extend my gratitude to the beneficiaries of our previous loan initiatives, whose obedience and proper conduct in repaying the funds within the designated timeline have enabled others to benefit. This cycle of responsibility is the essence of wealth circulation – when each person fulfills their duty, it creates opportunities for all. Those who have honoured their commitments will now have the chance to access higher loan amounts to further boost their businesses. My commitment to making this program workable and impactful will intensify if I become Governor of Oyo State, and I will institutionalise such efforts with enhanced resources and oversight to sustain this cycle of growth and prosperity across the state.
I wish to state that the criteria introduced for this loan release reflect a deliberate strategy to align our efforts with broader goals. The requirement of a PVC or its registration speaks to the critical importance of voter participation in a participatory democracy like Nigeria’s. It is the only tool that empowers citizens to effect change and drive a political revolution where necessary, as well, to ensure that our voices shape good governance. Everyone must be consciously on board. Other variables further reinforce our collective commitment to build a cohesive passion and precision in demanding accountability and progress. Indeed, these conditions are designed to build a community of engaged citizens who are ready to support and sustain the transformation we seek for Oyo State. We will get there.
As we roll out this initiative, I urge all eligible AKK members and foot soldiers to meet these criteria and participate fully. This loan is a step toward empowering our people, and I am confident it will yield the needed results (just as previously arranged editions have) when coupled with their hard work. The rollout of funds will officially begin in the month of September, registration and validation of details commences momentarily. I call on everyone to show the needed understanding and support as we engage going forward. With God’s guidance, this effort will pave the way for greater opportunities, and I remain dedicated to serving our people with integrity, purpose, and compassion.
