Oyo 2027: Nigerians in Australia endorses APC’s Dr. Kareem

The campaign for a new Oyo State gathered powerful momentum in Melbourne, Australia, as Nigerians in the diaspora gave a thunderous endorsement to Dr. Kareem, All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, during a landmark town hall, book launch, and fundraising event.

The hall in Victoria was filled with unity, passion, and resolve as Yoruba elders, Igbo leaders, Arewa representatives, and Nigerians from all walks of life stood shoulder to shoulder in support of Kareem’s vision for 2027 — a vision anchored on transparency, inclusiveness, and people-driven progress.

“This is not just about politics; this is about building the Oyo State of our dreams,” Dr. Kareem told the crowd, visibly moved by the outpouring of support. “The love and trust I feel here tonight transcend tribe, religion, or distance. Together, we are laying the foundation for a future of hope, dignity, and prosperity.”

The Melbourne event was more than a consultation — it was a movement in action. Guests engaged in open dialogue, celebrated the launch of Dr. Kareem’s book on good governance, and contributed generously to his campaign fund. Every donation, Kareem pledged, would be channelled with honesty and accountability to fuel grassroots mobilisation and community projects back home.

The book titled, OUR REALISTIC TOMORROW has been hailed as another future reference to the reality of Nigeria’s future, given quality leadership.

Leaders across the Nigerian-Australian community added weight to the occasion. Ambassador Adeniyi Ekine, who initiated the gathering, Dr. Adebukola Ojediran of Elizabeth Seeds, and Elder Matthew Adetifa of the Yoruba Heritage and Cultural Association of Victoria were among those hailed for their dedication. The event’s chair, Dr. Amb. Moses Adepoju, along with Mr. Elvis Nwachukwu of the Igbo Association and Hajia Fatimah Mahmoud of the Arewa Association, lent their voices to a message of unity: Nigerians abroad are ready to be partners in reshaping governance at home.

For Kareem, the endorsement in Melbourne was the first spark of a global fire. His consultation tour now moves to New South Wales in October, then to the United Kingdom and Europe, where he seeks to deepen dialogue with the diaspora.

“With every gathering, we are weaving a coalition of hope,” he declared. “This campaign belongs to the people. It is your voice, your strength, and your sacrifice that will deliver a new dawn for Oyo State.”

The night ended not just with applause but with conviction: that a united people, guided by vision and integrity, can chart a brighter path for Oyo and for Nigeria.
