Oyo State governorship aspirant, Dr. Adewale Kareem, has paid a courtesy visit to the League of Imams and Alfas in Ibarapa Land as part of his ongoing statewide consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The visit, according to Dr. Kareem, was aimed at seeking prayers, moral guidance, and meaningful engagement with religious leaders, whom he described as custodians of moral values and the conscience of society. He stressed that leadership anchored on God-consciousness and strong ethical principles remains critical to sustainable governance and social progress.
During the engagement, Dr. Kareem presented his book, Our Realistic Tomorrow, a leadership and development blueprint that outlines his vision for a progressive, fair, and opportunity-driven Oyo State, drawing from governance experiences within Oyo State, across Nigeria, and from international exposure.
A School Leader with the New South Wales Department of Education in Australia, Dr. Kareem noted that his experience with structured governance systems, inclusive public policies, and accountability-driven leadership has strengthened his conviction that Oyo State can achieve sustainable growth through purposeful leadership and people-focused governance.
Quoting Suratul Asr from the Holy Qur’an, he stated that his entry into politics is driven by a desire to serve humanity and govern with the fear of God, assuring that his leadership approach will be guided by justice, compassion, fairness, and accountability for the benefit of all residents of the state.
At the meeting, Dr. Kareem formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasizing that his ambition is rooted in sincere service rather than personal pursuit of power.
In their response, leaders of the League of Imams and Alfas in Ibarapa Land welcomed Dr. Kareem, commended the clarity of his vision as outlined in Our Realistic Tomorrow, and urged political leaders to prioritize the welfare of the people, promote unity, uphold peace, and pursue inclusive governance.
