Dr. Adeyemi emerges A A Candidate in Ogun

 

Doctor Olufemi Adeyemi as emerged as the governorship candidate of Action Alliance, Ogun State. The events took place on Sunday at the State secretariat, Ijeja, Abeokuta.

Adeyemi, a 61 year-old lawyer, pharmacist, Chartered accountant, lawyer and Doctor of veterinary medicine who hails from Ijebu-Igbo Ogun State is said to have been in politics for over 30 years.

According to the State Chairman of AA, Sanyaolu Abayomi, this will be the first time the party will have a gubernatorial candidate in the state.

He added that the party will also screen candidates for all the political offices available in the state.

“I want to congratulate all party members for this feat. This is the first time AA is presenting a candidate for governor in Ogun State.

“We have conducted 26 assembly aspirants, we are going to conduct for house of representatives and senatorial aspirants too. We will be contesting the 40 positions available in the state.

Earlier in his address, the State Party leader, Dapo Adeyemi said there had been other candidates who approached the party but were screened out.

“Tell them you have a capable person to field as your governor, most of the other candidates only bring their money, they have no credentials.

“He has been in politics for over 30 years, he is not the type that makes noise; we have said those who have spoilt Nigeria we will not allow them; we have screened about three people before now.

“All party executives and party members from the 20 local governments and the senatorial districts, we have all agreed that Olufemi Adeyemi should be our candidate, so, by affirmation he will represent us as our gubernatorial candidate in the Ogun 2023 elections.”

While accepting the nomination, the AA Guber candidate said his emergence will change the narrative of governance to be service to the people

On his agenda, he said a state of emergency would be declared in three sectors of the State.

“Today mark the beginning of the journey to redifine governance, governance should be seen as service to the people. Today will mark the beginning of a new order.

“Pensioners will be treated with dignity, Civil servants will be treated as partners in progress, there will be massive development of rural.

“We will declare state of emergency in Education, health and road construction. Privatization is not an almighty formula, we will show them how it is done and our impacts will be felt within six months.

“We only need three hundred thousand votes to become governor, we need to do this one way or the other. We have done our calculation and we have nine months to put it to work, it depends on you and I.

On his choice for the party, Adeyemi said it is “a divine directive to choose action alliance. There is no religious bias and the party has the interest of the people at heart.”
