Following the tragic death of the God’s son of popular Yoruba movie actor, Ibrahim Chatta, Ọmọ Yorùbá Àtàtà Socio-cultural Initiative, ỌYÀSI, has expressed deep sorrow and sympathy to the Nollywood community

In an official statement, signed by the Chairman, Mr Ọlawale Ajao and the Secretary, Chief Saheed Alatiṣe, ỌYÀSI described the passing of the young boy as not just a personal loss to Chatta, but a deeply felt tragedy within the organization itself.

“We are mourning with Ibrahim Chatta on the death of his God’s son,” the statement read. “The death of the son is personal to ỌYÀSI—it personally affects us because it came at a time we were beginning to relate with him directly.”

ỌYASI revealed that prior to the tragedy, they had scheduled a courtesy visit to the actor to discuss his role in the upcoming Second World Headdress Celebration, a major cultural event which annually celebrated towards the end of the year. A formal letter of intention was submitted to Chatta on Thursday, just two days before the devastating news broke.

“It is heartbreaking. We had intended to meet him this week to engage him in our cultural project, but this sudden loss changed everything,” the release continued.

Offering heartfelt condolences, ỌYASI extended prayers to Ibrahim Chatta, his family, and the entire Nollywood industry, saying, “With deep sorrow, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Nollywood star and pray he never witnesses sorrow in his life. May God protect him, his entire family, and the whole Nollywood family from any form of disaster.”

Actor Ibrahim Chatta, aged 54, announced the passing of the son in a somber Instagram post on Saturday.

Though he did not reveal details surrounding the death, his grief was palpable. Sharing a photo of the late boy, he wrote:

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”
