The Ogun state Indigene forum of entertainers, has strongly condemned the Ogun state Government via the ministry of Culture and Tourism over the ill manner which the Ogun state Indigenes artists were treated on the issues of the Cultural center in Abeokuta.
In a release signed by the association General Secretary, Hon. Kehinde Soaga and Mr. Bayo Bankole on the behalf of the board of trustee stated that the government is changing whopping sum of Twenty Thousand Naira per day for artistes to converge under the tree in the premises of the state’s cultural center situated in Abeokuta.
The association emphasized that the government has not done any feasible single support to the industry and it’s practitioners for the past four years of it’s establishment, except for refurbishing the cultural center and mainly used for the government event and her political meeting which has no cultural value to the state.
The association made it clear that the center in line with section 6.1.1 ( The Art) of the National Cultural policy which state that: The state shall preserve, promote and establish conducive conditions for creativity by encouraging the establishment of strong National Professional Association for artists, authors, dramatists, film makers was jettisoned by the government in power.
‘ Our legitimate center is being commercialized as event center and right owners, the artistes were denied the use of the premises of the center. A levy for commercial hall usage for projects is understandable and needs to be discussed with us as stakeholders and partners in development of Arts and culture of our dear state’. The association stated.
The association, however, call on the executive government of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun to take urgent and quick step and look in to the above mentioned challenges facing the artistes tor avoid confrontation by the entertainment professionals in Ogun state.
