The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspected member of a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in armed robbery, land grabbing and other violent crimes in Ibadan.
The suspect, identified as Arowolo Ademola Adeyemo, popularly known as “Demmy,” was arrested around 2:45 a.m. on August 15, 2026, after police operatives received intelligence that members of the gang had gathered at a hideout in the Soka area of Ibadan.
Police said a search during the operation led to the recovery of one fabricated pistol, one long single-barrel gun, nine rounds of 9mm live ammunition and nine live cartridges.
According to the Command, the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to involvement in land grabbing, armed robbery and other violent crimes. His confession has reportedly provided leads that could help the police identify and arrest other members of the syndicate.
Investigation is ongoing as the police intensify efforts to apprehend the suspects still at large. The arrested suspect is expected to be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation. What do you make of this arrest?
