Residents Hail Ogun Police, As Raid In Agbogunmagbe Ends Land Grabbing Terror

Residents of Agbogunmagbe village in Obada-Oko, Ewekoro Local Government area of Ogun State have commended the Nigeria Police for swiftly restoring peace following a violent land grabbing incident that threw the community into panic.

The Ogun State Police Command arrested 6 of eight suspected thugs allegedly involved in the attempted forceful takeover of lands in the area.

According to sources within the community, the suspects were reportedly mobilised by individuals identified as Femi Adewwunmi, also known as Ijaya Osuke, and Biola Jimoh.

The group was said to have been invited to the community by members of the Sonke family, who claimed to be acting on a court injunction granting them control over the disputed land.

Further findings revealed that two individuals, Nurudeen Sotonwa and Damilare Somoye, allegedly facilitated the arrival of the land grabbers to enforce the family’s claim.

Eyewitnesses recounted that shortly after arriving in the village, the armed thugs unleashed violence on residents, destroying property and forcefully ejecting landowners thereby creating widespread fear and chaos.

Alarmed by the situation, the Community Development Association (CDA) in Agbogunmagbe promptly alerted the police at the Obada-Oko Division.

In what residents described as a rapid and decisive response, police officers stormed the community, arrested several of the suspects and brought the situation under control.

“The police acted swiftly. Their intervention saved lives and properties,” a community leader said, noting that normalcy has since returned to the once-troubled area.

The operation is being regarded as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts by the Ogun State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, to curb the menace of land grabbing across the state.

Residents have since expressed deep appreciation to the Obada-Oko Police Division and the state command for their prompt action, describing the raid as a major relief from the persistent threat posed by land grabbers.

They also called for sustained security presence in the area to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
