Sanwo-Olu Presents 2026 Budget to Lagos state house of assembly

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday formally presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Lagos State House of Assembly, describing it as a significant milestone for his administration.

The spending plan, titled Budget of Shared Prosperity, is the final full-year budget of the current administration.

Sanwo-Olu said the ₦4.237 trillion proposal reflects the continued commitment of his government to improving the lives of all Lagos residents.

The budget is backed by a projected revenue of ₦3.994 trillion, leaving a financing gap of ₦243.33 billion, which he assured would be responsibly managed.

According to the governor, the 2026 fiscal proposal prioritizes deeper access to essential services, completion of critical infrastructure, and further strengthening of key systems across the state. He noted that Lagos’ steady growth—socially, economically, and structurally—remains the foundation for the new budget.

The proposal allocates ₦2.185 trillion to capital expenditure, targeting major projects in transportation, education, healthcare, housing, technology, environmental sustainability, and public safety. Recurrent expenditure is projected at ₦2.052 trillion, covering the state’s administrative costs and financial obligations.

As he enters the administration’s last full year, Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his commitment to keeping Lagos secure, functional, and increasingly prosperous. He expressed appreciation to the State Assembly, the civil service, party leadership, and Lagosians whose support, he said, continues to guide the government’s efforts.

The governor pledged that his team will continue working to build a safer, cleaner, more inclusive, and more prosperous Lagos for all. #TrendingInLagos
