BADAGRY SON EMERGES LASU BEST GRADUATING STUDENT, RECEIVES N20M FROM SANWO-OLU

A son of Badagry, Ayilara Lawal Olawale, has emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student of Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2024/2025 academic session, graduating with First Class Honours and an outstanding 4.96 CGPA in Project Management Technology.

His remarkable academic feat has brought another moment of pride to Badagry, as Lagos State Governor and LASU Visitor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, announced a personal cash gift of N20 million for Olawale during the university’s 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony held at the Ojo campus.

Olawale was honoured alongside Adebanjo Samuel Oluolamide, the 2025/2026 Best Graduating Student, who recorded a 4.97 CGPA in Aerospace Engineering. The two outstanding graduates were rewarded for their exceptional academic performance as LASU celebrated 20,604 graduands.

The achievement is particularly significant to Badagry, where academic excellence continues to inspire a new generation of young people to pursue education, discipline and excellence. Olawale’s feat places the historic community prominently on the academic map, demonstrating that great talents can emerge from every part of Badagry.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, while congratulating the graduands, charged them to become good ambassadors of LASU, Lagos State and Nigeria by deploying their knowledge, character and courage to solve problems and contribute meaningfully to society. The convocation also featured the conferment of honorary doctorate degrees on distinguished Nigerians, including Aliko Dangote, Akin Kekere-Ekun and Bola Adesola.
