November 7 gathering in Forest Hill to offer job opportunities, migration guidance, accommodation support and one-on-one orientation
For Nigerians and other migrants planning to move to the United Kingdom, as well as those who have recently arrived and are seeking to establish themselves, a free event in London is set to provide practical guidance, employment connections and support.
Tagged “London Meet & Greet,” the event, organised by The Nehemiahs, will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at The Nehemiah’s House, 118 Malham Road, Forest Hill, Lewisham, London SE23 1AN, beginning at 11:00 a.m. GMT.
Convened by Gbolahan Adedoyin, the gathering is designed to connect UK newcomers and prospective migrants with useful information, people and opportunities that can help them navigate employment and settlement in Britain.
Rather than being simply a social gathering, the organisers say the event will focus on practical areas including job migration, signposting and referencing, accommodation support, job training, job invitations, one-on-one newcomer orientation and arrival support.
CONNECTING NEWCOMERS TO OPPORTUNITIES
A major focus of the event will be helping newcomers understand where and how to access employment-related opportunities.
Through the job migration and job invitation components, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about employment possibilities and make connections that could assist their search for work.
The job training component will also provide information and connections around skills development, helping participants understand opportunities to improve their employability and prepare for the UK job market.
For those who may not know where to turn for reliable assistance, the signposting and referencing aspect of the event will help direct attendees towards relevant services, organisations and individuals who can provide further guidance.
SUPPORT BEYOND FINDING A JOB
The organisers are also placing significant emphasis on the challenges that newcomers face outside the workplace.
Through accommodation support, participants will receive information and guidance on navigating housing options, while arrival support is aimed at people preparing to travel to the UK or those who have recently arrived.
The event will equally provide one-on-one newcomer orientation, giving participants an opportunity to receive personal guidance on understanding their new environment and settling into life in Britain.
According to the organisers, the central idea is simple: people arriving in a new country should have access to the right information and connections to help them avoid unnecessary difficulties.
“COME, CONNECT AND GET THE RIGHT DIRECTION”
The event is built around networking and practical support, with participants encouraged to come prepared to ask questions, meet people and establish useful relationships.
Whether someone is planning a move to the UK, has recently arrived, is searching for employment, needs accommodation information, requires training or simply needs direction to appropriate services, the organisers say the London Meet & Greet is designed to provide a useful starting point.
Importantly, attendance is free, making the gathering accessible to prospective migrants and newcomers who want to gain information and connections without paying an admission fee.
The organisers are inviting prospective migrants, new arrivals and others seeking employment and settlement support to attend the gathering and take advantage of the networking opportunities available.
